There were many excellent scores shot in the third week of the introduction to shooting programme, with 18 scores in the 80s and 20 in the 70s.  Top scores were shot by Thomas Kilroy 89.2, Holly Seath 89.1, Summer O’Dwyer 89.0, Parker Robertson 88.1, and Hannah Kennedy 87.2.  Next week is the final session for this programme.  A limited number will then be invited to join the club, with the remainder being given information about other Wellington clubs.  It is hoped to move the new members into sling and jacket as quickly as possible, commencing Sunday 28 March at 3.00 pm.  To enable this to happen, it is necessary to have one coach for each shooter.  Full instruction will be provided to the coaches on the setting up process.  If you are interested in learning to undertake this important aspect of shooting, please let me know so that we can organise equal numbers of shooters to coaches.  We will also need organisers, a range officer, ammo fillers, target changers and markers.

The 2015 club competition got underway last night, and first onto the 100s board was Meredith Ackrill, scoring a very nice 100.7 on the second half of her 20-shot card.  That, of course, also means Meredith is first onto the cake roster.  In D Grade Luisa Kristen scored highest 94.1, followed by Ollie Tuohy 93.4.  Neakiry Kivi 95.2 led C Grade ahead of Stephen Thessman 93.2.   Callum Osborne was top B Grade shot with 94.4, Ross Little scored an excellent 99.7 in A Grade, and Meredith Ackrill was highest in Master Grade with 98.5.  Meredith also topped the 20-shot competition with 197.11.  It’s great to see so many of our lower grade shooters having a go at 20-shot targets, perhaps due to the introduction of the new BCD 20-shot trophy competition (best 15 scores out of a possible 25).  Stephen Thessman scored a new 20-shot PB of 194.6, including an impressive 99.4 on his first card.
