It was great to see Mark Riley back at the club yesterday, not yet able to shoot following his accident at the end of March but keen to be involved and providing a huge amount of assistance with coaching our newer shooters.

Once again it was fantastic to see so many new PBs (personal best scores) shot: Ben Cox 96.4, Summer O’Dwyer 96.4, Georgia Karantze 90.2, Jack MacCormick 90.1 and Logan Brantley 89.1.

On the rest this week Inge Little scored well with 86.0.  There was some brilliant shooting in D Grade - Ben Cox and Summer O’Dwyer were highest with 96.4, followed by Hamish Guthrey 94.0 and Luisa Kristen 93.3, with five more also scoring in the 90s.  In C Grade Neil Maddever shot his best score since returning to the sport, 99.4!  Callum Osborne was highest in B Grade with 95.1, in A Grade Dianne Grain shot best with 98.4, and Pratik Tailor was top Master Grade shot with 100.7.  Pratik also recorded the best 20-shot score this week of 198.12 followed by Evan Little with 196.10.

The Interassociation A Grade match was held on Monday.  Official results from all associations won’t be known until the end of the season, but congratulations go to the Wellington #1 team on their best result to date since the introduction of the new targets.  Top Brooklyn shooter in this match was Ross Little with 198.09.

Brooklyn competed in each of the three sections of the interclub competition on Tuesday night, going down to Wellington Central in B Grade, but securing wins against South Wellington in C Grade, and Melrose in the Open Grade competition.  Neil Maddever shot the highest score overall in the C Grade match (95.3), Stephen Thessman was top Brooklyn shooter in the B Grade match (96.3) and Pratik Tailor was best overall in the Open Grade match with 199.12.  Brooklyn will host the next round of interclub matches on Sunday 21 June.

Congratulations to Pratik Tailor on finishing 2nd at the Awahuri Open Champs with a fantastic 300.23, a mere inner behind the Master Grade winner, Grant Taylor from Poroutawhao.  The final was also closely fought with Pratik scoring 198.13, while Grant shot two inners better to take out the Awahuri Open Champion title for this year.

The closed champs Round 1 results are not yet available, but will hopefully be received within the next day or two.  The deadline for Round 2 targets is Sunday 14 June.

Have you got your quiz team together yet?  This evening will be a lot of fun, so if you haven’t done so yet, start talking amongst your friends and family and form a team.  Then forward your team details to Evan Little (evster22@gmail.com) who is organising the event.  If you can’t get a full team together but have a few people interested, that’s not a problem - Evan will organise them into teams.  Please contact Evan on 021 855 939 if you have any questions.

The Hutt Valley Open Champs are being held on Friday 5 June and Saturday 6 June (see poster attached).  This match is highly recommended, and is the first of the six-match Wellington Provincial Champs competition, as well as being part of the North Island team selection ranking matches.   The D Grade entry fee has been reduced for these champs to only $10, so come along and have a go.  It is also a great opportunity for our secondary school shooters to try out the range where Round 1 of the local secondary schools match will be held in August.  Coaching will be available on both Friday night and Saturday morning.  If you are wanting to compete and require club equipment to be transported to the range, please let me know.

A reminder to email me if you would like to attend the centenary celebration dinner on Saturday 17 October.  While this event is a few months away, I would like to get an indication of likely numbers to help determine a suitably-sized venue.  It would be great to have as many attend as possible from our current and past membership to help celebrate the club’s achievements over the last 100 years.
