It was great to see so many (30) at the club for our final shooting day of the indoor season, and 17 for dinner may have broken the record!  Thanks to Meredith for organising dinners over the last three years, and to everyone who has helped out on the dinner roster.  These have been very popular and are an excellent way to get to know each other in a more informal setting and to catch up on what’s happening in our lives.

Congratulations to the following shooters on scoring a new PB yesterday: Summer O’Dwyer 100.9(!!), Oscar Robinson 99.3, Arnold Chia 90.1, and Matthew Canlas 180.1 (20-shot PB).

As part of the wind-down for the season, 11 D Graders took part in a 90-second shoot.  Interestingly many of the scores were not hugely different from their normal scores which tends to suggest that they are doing everything right – natural point of aim, sighting, relaxing, shot release, etc.  Top shot was Wiko du Toit with 94.2 followed by Georgia Karantze on 91.3.

Once again there were many really good 20-shot scores shot yesterday, in particular Pratik Tailor 199.15 and 198.16, Evan Little 197.13, David Grain 197.11 and Dianne Grain 196.7, and in the lower grades Oscar Robinson 192.6, Mark Riley 191.7 and Wiko du Toit 189.1.  The highest five D Graders this week were Oscar Robinson 99.3, Wiko du Toit 95.3, Melchior Meares 94.4, Sarah May 93.2 and Rhys Mountain 93.2.  Hamish Guthrey and Erin Little were top shots in C Grade, both scoring 95.2.  And in the higher grades, Summer O’Dwyer did best with 100.9.

The final indoor shooting event of the season – the champion of champions match – is being held on Wednesday at 8pm.  Those involved are Pratik Tailor, David Grain, Summer O’Dwyer, Mark Riley and Wiko du Toit.  Good luck!

Outdoor 50m shooting commenced last Saturday with an introductory session.  It was great to see a number of Brooklyn shooters giving it a go with very good results, especially as the wind was quite strong and switching a lot.  If anyone has a shooting mat they are not using over the summer months that outdoor shooters could borrow, please let David know. Outdoor shooting is held each Saturday morning (except Saturday 22 October) from 9am to 12.30pm at the Allen Range, Dante Road, Trentham.  Contact David for more details, or to be added to the outdoor email list.

If you have ordered tickets for the WSRA prizegiving dinner on Saturday, please make payment of $35 per ticket into the club’s bank account using your name as a reference on or before Wednesday.  Doors open at 6pm with dinner served at 6.30pm.

Thanks to those who have met the deadline for grading returns.  It is pleasing to see a large number of members moving up at least one grade next season.  There’s just a few more returns outstanding – if you haven’t yet sent through your grading return could you please do so urgently to enable the club return to be compiled and sent to TSNZ.

And finally, our annual club prizegiving and barbecue will be held at Craig Fair’s house, 329 Karori Road, from 4.30pm on Sunday 16 October.  Please advise Meredith if you will be attending.  If you won trophies last year, please ensure they are engraved, polished and returned on Sunday.  If you won a trophy at an event during the year, bring these along as well for our club winners photo.
