Another busy week at the club with 30 regular shooters, three newbies and two helpers. In the college training squad, Conrad Draper scored an estimated 92.3 closely followed by Sarah May with 92.1. Top shot in D Grade this week was Ronan Balm with 93.1, with Neakiry Kivi a point behind on an estimated score of 92.0. Once again scores were close in C Grade with both Jialin Sae-Jiw and Stephen Thessman recording 95.3, Callum Osborne 94.1 and Erin Little 93.2. Sergey Kladnitski shot an impressive 99.5 in B Grade followed by Craig Fair with 98.4. David Grain had a great night, shooting not one but two 100.5s in A Grade, while Dianne Grain and Ross Little finished an inner apart with 99.5 and 99.4 respectively. And in Master Grade, top shot this week was Alex Woodwark with 100.6; Michael Grain was a point behind with 99.7. The top score in the 20-shot competition was shot by Jess Fair (197.11), and once again Dianne Grain and Ross Little were separated by a mere inner (195.8 and 195.7 respectively).
Congratulations to our Brooklyn interclub team members on their clean sweep across all grades in Round 2, shot last Monday. Top shots for Brooklyn in each grade were Jialin Sae-Jiw 96.2, Craig Fair 96.3 and Michael Grain 199.14. With four rounds still remaining, South Wellington lead C Grade with two wins (10 points), and Brooklyn are ahead in both B Grade and Open Grade with two wins in each. We will be hosting Round 3 on Sunday 8 June.
A reminder that there are only five open champs remaining (Awahuri, Petone, Dannevirke, Martinborough and Wanganui) before the deadline for North v South Island team selection.
If you are interested in shooting in the North Island Open or North Island Junior team against Scotland on 21 September at the Manawatu range, please forward your name, association and team you are nominating for, to the North Island secretary, Anne Murphy before 9 August. Note: this is a separate match and a separate team to the North Island v South Island match being held in Blenheim on 16 and 17 August, so regardless of whether you are selected for the N v S Island match, you can still be selected for the North Island v Scotland match.
It was great to see that all Round 1 closed champs targets were shot before the deadline. Results should be available from the WSRA markers on Saturday. Round 2 targets need to be shot on or before Sunday 15 June with a free week between series next week, this is a good opportunity to do so.
Thanks to Meredith for continuing to organise our Sunday evening meals. If you are able to provide an occasional meal, or wish to be added to the "what's on the menu this week" email list, please let Meredith know. The meals are very popular and at only $5 each are extremely good value.
Brooklyn are rostered for cleaning duties during June, to be undertaken on 1, 15 and 29 June at 5.45pm. Tasks include cleaning toilets, handbasins, floors, kitchen benches, vacuuming both social area and mounds, and picking up brass. Please bring along mops, buckets, cleaning materials, vacuum cleaners, gloves, brooms, etc so that the cleaning can be carried out by as many people as possible in the smallest amount of time.
