Another very busy afternoon session this week with 26 shooters. The college training squad are making good progress with some now ready to move into slings. Top shots in the squad this week were August Gould (89.2) and Neakiry Kivi (87.1).
This week saw the start of the club competition. Congratulations to Evan Little, first on the 2014 100s board with 100.5 (part of his 20-shot 197.9). Of course this means he heads up the cake (or perhaps dessert) roster, joined by Pratik Tailor who tested out to score 99.9 as part of his 20-shot card of 197.15. Meredith Ackrill was top shot in the Master Grade 10-shot competition with 99.7, closely followed by Pratik with 99.3. In A Grade, Ross Little had a great start to the season with 99.7. Sergey Kladnitski top-scored in B Grade with 97.6 followed by Maor Ben-Shahar with 96.3. Greg Mason continues to shoot well in C Grade with 96.6, ahead of Jialin Sae-Jiw on 94.2 and Stephen Thessman on 94.0. And in D Grade Daniel Mackey was top shot with 90.2.
Could third-year shooters please consider moving to the evening session at 7pm. This would help to free up club equipment and squadding. If you are able to come along to the afternoon session to assist with marking, target changing, filling ammo blocks and talking with newer shooters about their targets, it would be much appreciated. We will also show you how to coach if you are interested.
Best results are definitely achieved by those with their own equipment, so if you are looking to purchase shooting items, please discuss with a senior member where and how to source the most suitable products. This year our club equipment is stretched to capacity, being shared between 31 shooters plus a number of regular visitors.
Next Sunday the top four or five of the college training squad will move to slings. This will be done on a one-on-one basis, with David providing overall guidance for those less familiar with this task. Please let me know if you are interested in learning how to move people onto slings, and if you are available to help out with this next Sunday at the earlier time of 3pm. It is hoped to repeat this process with the next batches at fortnightly intervals.
Last week information was emailed to all WSRA members regarding the Rees Scroll match and the NDC competition. These are both great competitions, and well worth nominating for. Simply complete the emailed form(s), or fill one in at the club.
Thanks to those who have already paid their subs. The WSRA AGM last Friday determined that the WSRA affiliation fees would remain at $30 for the 2014 season. It would be appreciated if all subs could be paid promptly and TSNZ membership forms completed as soon as possible. The TSNZ form was emailed in last week’s “shooting update” and copies are also available at the club..
