Many thanks to the large number of members and helpers (17!!) who expressed interest in helping with the social shoot on Wednesday. Everyone had a great time, with many excellent scores being shot including 8 in the 80s.
The introduction to shooting programme will get underway on Sunday at 3pm. This is an extremely important part of the club’s structure, as it plays a large part in determining our club membership. There will be numerous tasks to do (meet and greet, entry money and forms, squadding, safety talk, ammo filling, target preparation and changing, coaching, range officering, marking, checking marking, talking with shooters and parents, collation of targets and forms). We need as many people as possible to help run this programme, so if you haven’t done so yet, please advise WHETHER OR NOT you are able to come along and assist. A further email noting allocated tasks will be sent to helpers on Saturday.
Club shooters will be able to undertake a practice session at 7pm on 1 March, and following the AGM on 8 March.
Congratulations go to Evan Little, Jess Fair and Dianne Grain on achieving a top three placing in their grade at the recent Mana and Pauatahanui Outdoor 50m Championships. Evan was 2nd in B Grade in both events, Jess was 2nd on Day 1 and 1st on Day 2 in C Grade, and Dianne finished 3rd in B Grade on Day 1. Ross Little and Michael Grain will be shooting the ISSF match at the National Champs in Christchurch this week.
We welcome into the club from the 2014 training squad the following shooters: Matthew Canlas, Conrad Draper, August Gould, Alex Hill and Nicoli Yamog. They join with new 2014 club members Hamish Guthrey, Nick Hill and Ollie Tuohy, along with existing D Grade shooters Luisa Kristen, Daniel Mackey, Rhys Mountain and Jamie Yee to form an excellent D Grade foundation for the club. The more experienced club members are spread fairly evenly between the other grades.
A reminder that nominations are sought for the WSRA Executive for 2015. If you are interested in being involved in the decision-making and planning for Wellington Smallbore Rifle Association, please complete the attached nomination form and forward it to the WSRA Secretary (bevn@paradise.net.nz) urgently. There are a maximum of seven meetings, normally held on Friday nights at 7.30pm in the Royal Tiger range.
Attached is the club’s draft calendar for your information. This will be finalised following the WSRA AGM but is unlikely to need major change.
