Club Shooting
It's been great to see a number of members attempt their Marksman's badges over the past few weeks. If you think you will be moving up a grade next year (you can tell from the shooting scores spreadsheet you're all keeping up to date!), now is the time to go for this achievement. The number of targets and score required for each grade can be found on the noticeboard at the back of the social area. Targets must be shot within the TSNZ season (ending 30 September).

Analin Rudd scored highest in the lower grades this week with a 95.2. Inge Little's 99.5 was the top B Grade score ahead of Mark Riley's 98.4. Bex Baines' 100.6 was the top score for the night. There were several impressive 20-shot scores achieved on Sunday (must have been the practice from Teams of Ten!). Erin Little's 199.15 was the highest, 3 inners ahead of Megan Brodie's 199.12. These scores were closely followed by Evan Little (198.8) and Dianne Grain (197.14).
Teams of Ten
The annual Teams of Ten match was held in Whanganui on Saturday. This is one of the most exciting matches of the season. Associations from around the North Island enter teams to compete for the Rees Scroll and the Jim Hart Trophy. One person from each team shoots on each squad so the team rankings are recorded throughout the day.

The Wellington #1 team competed for the Rees Scroll. It was an incredibly close and suspenseful match. At the halfway point our team were in the lead, 3 points ahead of Horowhenua and 7 points ahead of Waikato and defending champions Manawatu. Waikato had a strong start to the the second round. With 7 squads to go they had taken top spot and were 5 points ahead of us. But the Wellington shooters kept their nerve and clawed their way back. As the last squad went in, we were only one point behind. Our final shooter scored 3 points better than Waikato's, and Wellington took the Rees Scroll home for the first time since 2003! The team's winning score was 3901.196. Congratulations to Erin Little who was 'Top Dog' for the team with a score of 396.25, and 5th overall.
The Wellington #2 team competed for the Jim Hart Trophy. It was a tough match, with Wairarapa and Hutt Valley #2 battling throughout the day for the top 2 spots. At the halfway mark our team were placed 4th. They kept their cool and rose to 3rd place at the beginning of the second round. But Wairarapa and Hutt Valley were too far ahead to catch and the team finished the match in 3rd place with a score of 3817.128. Top shot from Brooklyn and 2nd in the team was Inge Little with a score of 388.16.

Club Shooting

It was a quiet club night on Sunday, with several senior members competing or supporting at the North v South match in Palmerston North. The scores were tight between those members who attended the club. In the lower grades, Finn Ashby scored 94.3, an inner ahead of both Chris Dunning and Analin Rudd with 94.2. In B Grade, both Dianne Grain and Jaz Hamilton scored 96.2. David Grain's 97.4 was the highest score of the night, followed by Meredith Ackrill's 97.3. David also scored the highest 20-shot with his 194.11.

North v South match
The annual North Island versus South Island match was held in Palmerston North on Saturday. This is one of the most competitive matches of the season, with shooters qualifying by attending Open Championships through the beginning of the season. This year was a clean sweep for the North Island, winning all 5 team matches (Juniors, Veterans, Womens, Mens and Open).

Congratulations to the shooters from our club who qualified for these teams. Megan Brodie started the day off strongly with a score of 394.24 for the Junior team, placing 3rd and qualifying for the New Zealand Juniors. Bex Baines followed suit for the Women, scoring 394.18 to place 3rd. Megan scored 391.19 for her Womens shoot. Both qualified for the New Zealand Womens team. Megan then went on to finish the day with a 391.17 for the Open team, missing out on making the New Zealand team by just three places.

The New Zealand teams shot on Sunday in a postal match against the UK Home Counties. These matches are scored as though they were shot on UK targets, so no inners are counted. Megan shot a 297 for the Junior team and then 295 for the Womens. Bex shot a 296 for the Womens. Great shooting both!
