Congratulations to our Brooklyn team (Jialin Sae-Jiw, Luisa Kristen, Stephen Thessman, Neakiry Kivi, Callum Osborne and Erin Little) on their Wright Cup win last night. It was really pleasing to see the great team spirit and enthusiasm in this group which goes a long way towards making a successful team. Jialin, very busy with exams at the moment, needed to shoot early and gave the team a good start, scoring 96.5 in Round 1 (top shooter for Brooklyn). South Wellington's Vince Brannigan, however, was top shooter on both this squad and overall with 97.2. All our team shot well, with scores ranging from 93 to 96, and the final result gave Brooklyn a 15-point win over South Wellington who finished two points ahead of Wellington Central. Interestingly since the new targets were introduced two years ago, Brooklyn's team score has been 472 (472.16, 472.11, 472.16). Thanks to all our club members who assisted with running this match.

The Wellington v Hutt Interclub Winners match was held on Friday night. Congratulations to our open team of David Grain, Ross Little, Evan Little and Michael Grain, who won their extremely close match against Pauatahanui by a mere point. This is a fantastic result and shows the depth the club has, as two of our usual interclub shooters (Pratik Tailor and Meredith Ackrill) were unavailable for this match. Top shot overall was David with 198.11. This team remains unbeaten for at least two seasons - well done!

The Wellington C Grade rep team were also successful in their match against Hutt Valley on Friday night. Hutt Valley shot a higher average per person but unfortunately with only a nine-person team, finished 166 points behind Wellington. Congratulations to Callum Osborne, Stephen Thessman and Erin Little on being the top three shooters in the Wellington team, scoring 192.4, 190.4 and 189.6 respectively.

The six-round Wellington closed champs competition has now been completed. Congratulations to Michael Grain (1st Master Grade), David Grain (1st A Grade), Sergey Kladnitski (2nd B Grade), Meredith Ackrill (1st Womens), and Jess Fair (1st Juniors). The top 10 shooters overall will now compete in the final 10 match on Wednesday 24 September at 8.15pm (1x20 shot). It's great to see seven Brooklyn shooters named in the top 10: Michael Grain, David Grain, Meredith Ackrill, Evan Little, Jess Fair, Ross Little, Sergey Kladnitski.

Provisional Triple S results are now available. Congratulations to:

  • Sergey Kladnitski, 2nd overall and 2nd B Grade
  • Callum Osborne, 3rd overall and 1st C Grade
  • Wellington College #1 (Sergey Kladnitski, Callum Osborne, Stephen Thessman, Greg Mason) 2nd in the teams competition.

In club shooting this week, new PBs were shot by Hamish Guthrey (95.3) and Ollie Tuohy (93.0) while Andrea Tuohy continues tracking back to past form of years ago, scoring 95.1. There were also a number of good scores shot in the college training squad: Elena Torres 93.2, 92.2; Samantha Jordan 93.0; and Alex Hill 91.0. The top three scores in C Grade this week were shot by Stephen Thessman 98.3, Callum Osborne 97.3, and Jialin Sae-Jiw 96.5. Maor Ben-Shahar's 97.5 was highest in B Grade. In A Grade Dianne Grain was highest with 98.6, extremely closely followed by Jess Fair 98.4 and Ross Little 98.3. And Pratik Tailor will be bringing yet another cake to the club, having shot yet another 99.9 in Master Grade, while Evan Little was two inners behind with 99.7. Pratik had a great night, scoring 200.13 on his 20-shot target, while Ross Little was next highest with 199.14, both shooters having shot 100.8 as part of these cards.

Many thanks to those who helped out with the working bee on Saturday. The Bell Road building is now looking a lot cleaner than it did last week, hopefully helping to generate income from renting the space prior to the renovations commencing. If you know of anyone looking to rent a large indoor area for sports training, band practice, theatre production, etc please contact Evan Little.
