Wellington had their second win in the NDC competition on Thursday, this time against Nelson.  The open section finished a mammoth 68 points ahead, while the composite section won by 21 points, but unfortunately our juniors suffered a  loss in this round by nine points.  The severe weather did cause a few problems; however there was a strong commitment by many team members to do whatever was necessary to ensure Wellington could compete.  Probably the best example of this was Michael Grain.  Unable to get home to the Hutt Valley to collect his equipment he opted to set himself up in club equipment which he had never used before.  Stephen’s gear was the best fit, and   other team members helped out by supplying the miscellaneous bits and pieces that Michael needed.  Michael even made himself a target visor but fortunately didn’t actually shoot with this.  After a practice card sighting in the rifle, Michael then shot his competition cards, finishing with an amazing score of 298.15!!  Top shots for Wellington were Pratik Tailor 299.19, Michael Grain 298.15 and Meredith Ackrill 297.20 – Meredith also gained the team a very handy bonus point with a 200.15, her first 200 of the season.  Wellington continue to be top of the table in Division 2 and face Marlborough in Round 3 on 4 June.

It was fantastic to see so many Brooklyn members (14) at the Poroutawhao Open Champs on Saturday.  Congratulations to Pratik Tailor on winning the match with 498.35, and Master Grade with 299.22.  It was a Brooklyn trifecta in A Grade with the top three placings: Jess Fair 296.15, Evan Little 296.12, Dianne Grain 295.19; and Luisa Kristen finished in 3rd place in D Grade with 274.7, her best open champs score this season.  Another highlight was that there were FIVE Brooklyn shooters in the Final 10 (Pratik Tailor, Evan Little, Dianne Grain, Meredith Ackrill and Jess Fair).

The next open champs are a double header in Taranaki, at Eltham and Hawera, next weekend.  The posters for these are available on the TSNZ website (http://www.targetshootingnz.co.nz/calendars/indoor---north-island-2015).

While many have completed their Round 1 closed champs targets, there are still quite a few not yet shot.  The LAST opportunity to shoot this target is NEXT Sunday.
