The Indoor Nationals were shot yesterday at various ranges around the country.  It was great to see our Brooklyn shooters achieving excellent results.  The 2016 National Master Grade Champion is our own Pratik Tailor, scoring 398.30.  Summer O’Dwyer finished in 2nd place in the B Grade competition with 395.19, a mere three inners behind the winner.  And Wiko du Toit shot 291.12 in the D Grade competition to finish in 2nd place, a point behind the winner – this score included a new 20-shot PB of 194.8.  Evan Little also shot well, finishing 4th in A Grade with 395.23.  All four were top shooters in their grade in the Wellington region.  Well done!

There was a good smattering of red ink on the competition board this week with 100s shot by Pratik Tailor x2, David Grain, Evan Little, and Summer O’Dwyer x2.  The 20-shot competition was very close with Pratik leading with 199.16 and 199.14, Evan scored 198.15 and Summer shot 198.10.  D Grade scores continue to climb – the top five D Graders this week were Georgia Karantze 99.2, Wiko du Toit 97.4,  Oscar Robinson 96.5, Inge Little 95.4, and Sarah May 95.4, while Amalamo Simi and Leilani Fam both shot 94s.  Hamish Guthrey had the best C Grade score of 96.3 followed by Mark Riley with 95.2.  Summer O’Dwyer was highest in B Grade with 100.5, three points ahead of Craig Fair on 97.2.  And David Grain’s 99.6 was the top score in the higher grades; Evan Little was next best with 98.5.

Some outstanding scores were shot at the Interassociation Junior match on Tuesday.  Georgia Karantze scored a new PB of 99.8 which included seven consecutive inners.  Wiko du Toit and Amalamo Simi shot new PBs as well, both 97.5.  And Luisa Kristen was unlucky to miss out on her own new PB, dropping only one point from the first nine targets to finish with 96.4.  Summer O’Dwyer was top shot with 196.9 closely followed by Georgia Karantze and Ross Little.  Full results will be available in September.

The triangular B Grade, women’s and junior matches were held on Saturday at the Keene Range in Petone.  The B Grade and women’s matches were closely contested, with Wellington winning B Grade by just 18 inners, and losing the women’s match by a point.  Our juniors proved too strong, finishing 16 points ahead of Hutt Valley.

Round 3 results from the Triple S competition will be available later this week.

The final interclub round will be shot on Thursday 18 August.  Shortlists will be emailed out in the next few days, with the teams selected later this week.
