There was some pretty impressive shooting in the 20-shot competition yesterday with five scores being 197 or higher.  Top shot was Pratik Tailor with 199.17 followed by 199.16 (and for his 10-shot he scored 100.9!).  That really is incredibly good shooting – 498.42 out of a possible 500.50.  The other high scores were shot by Evan Little 198.15, David Grain 198.10 and Dianne Grain 197.13.

The top five D Graders yesterday were Oscar Robinson 97.2, Melchior Meares 96.1 (a new PB), Matthew Canlas 95.3, Amalamo Simi 95.3, and Wiko du Toit 94.2.  Congratulations to Phil Luke on also shooting a new PB – 93.2.  Erin Little was easily top shot in C Grade this week with a very impressive 98.4, and Craig Fair scored the same to be best in B Grade.  David Grain’s 100.6 was highest in A Grade, and Pratik Tailor’s 100.9 was the best Master Grade score.

The Final 10 of the closed champs competition was shot on Monday.  Meredith Ackrill shot best on the night with 198.12 which moved her up to 2nd position behind Neil Kinsey of Wellington Central Club.  Dianne Grain, David Grain and Summer O’Dwyer finished in 3rd to 5th positions respectively, and Georgia Karantze moved up a place to finish 8th.

It was great to see so many members at the North Island Champs in Palmerston North on Saturday.  Congratulations to Craig Fair on his 3rd place in B Grade with an extremely good 391.

Thanks to those who have already emailed through their grading returns – very speedy, much appreciated.  Please remember to include all competition cards shot, not just club competition cards.  So that includes interclub, representative teams, closed champs, school competitions, marksmen’s badges, open champs, etc.  The deadline for grading returns is Monday 10 October.

Also many thanks to the large number of members who assisted with range and social area cleaning yesterday.  With so many helping, the task was accomplished quickly and done well.

The club’s shooting season finishes on 9 October, followed by the Champion of Champions match (12 October), WSRA prizegiving (15 October) and BSRC barbecue prizegiving (16 October).  Summer shooting is available each Monday from 14 November.  This is run by Wellington Association with all profits going back to the Association.  If you are using club equipment and keen to continue shooting through the summer, please contact Craig.  Alternatively you might like to try outdoor 50m shooting, held each Saturday morning from 9am to 12.30pm at the Allen Range, Dante Road, Trentham (contact David Grain) for more details.  The outdoor season will get underway on Saturday 8 October.

Tickets for the WSRA prizegiving dinner on Saturday 15 October will be available at the club next week.  The cost of each ticket is $35, and family members are welcome to attend.  Please add this event to your calendars.
