Congratulations to Pratik Tailor and Summer O’Dwyer on winning their respective champion of champion matches on Wednesday.  Pratik finished a point ahead of Wellington Central with 198.14, while Summer set a new B Grade record of 199.15 (which was also a new PB for her).  David Grain finished a point behind Wellington Central in A Grade, Mark Riley finished 3rd in C Grade and Wiko du Toit came 2nd in D Grade (Wellington Central set a new record of 98.8 in D Grade).

The Wellington Association dinner and prizegiving function was held on Saturday night, with Brooklyn shooters receiving a large number of representative badges, date bars, medals and trophies.  The club was presented with the Witcomb & Caldwell trophy, the Osmond Shield and the Wright Cup, as well as the Open Grade, B Grade and C Grade interclub shields – this is the full range of WSRA club trophies so well done to our members on such a fantastic result!

What a great turnout for our club prizegiving yesterday – 29 club members plus 5 family/friends and of course one dog!  Many thanks to Craig and Ursula for once again hosting this event, and to Meredith for organising the food.  The 2016 club members’ achievements booklet, which highlights shooters’ achievements beyond club shooting, has been emailed to members.  Congratulations to all on their successes.

The WSRA Business House Challenge is being held on Friday 4 November at 6.30pm.  Teams comprise three people and the entry fee is $60 per team with part of the proceeds going back to the clubs.  Any help with target changing, range officering, marking, scorekeeping, and coaching would be much appreciated.

A rifle cleaning session will be held in the upcoming weeks (details to be advised soon).  If you’ve been using club equipment, please come along to learn how to take care of your rifle to prevent corrosion.

And a working bee to clear gutters, to cut back overhanging trees and to have a general tidy up will be held at our Bell Road building in the upcoming weeks (details to be advised soon).  Please come along and help out – the more help we have, the quicker the task will be done.  And of course, you’ll get to see where we’ll be shooting in the not too distant future!

This is the final Brooklyn Shooting Update for this season.  The club will get under way again in late February/early March with the four-week introduction programme for new shooters.  It would be appreciated if you could let us know if you are not intending to shoot next year, particularly if you are using club equipment.

In the meantime, if you would like to shoot during the summer months from mid-November onwards on a Monday evening, please contact Craig Fair, or alternatively if you’d like to have a go at outdoor on Saturday mornings from 9am at the Allen Range in Trentham, please contact David Grain.  Otherwise enjoy the off-season and we’ll see you next year.
