We had a quiet week at the club this week, which enabled us to run a coaching session where we covered natural point of aim and the shooting process. Hopefully those who were there got something useful from this.

Score-wise Rob led the charge in D grade with a 95.2, closely followed by Eli with a 94.0. In C grade Jaz and Finn were neck-and-neck with 95.3 and 95.2 respectively. In the higher grades Bex shot a tidy 100.7, and top shot in the 20 was David with 197.9.

Hutt Valley open

Nine Brooklyn members shot in the Hutt Valley Open Championships at Petone on Saturday. For Eli, Filly and Eleanor this was their first Open Championships, and they acquitted themselves well. Filly's 98.3 in her third shoot was a highlight - well done!

In the higher grades, Mark B came 3rd in B grade with 294.22, Stephen came 5th in A grade with 293.8 and I shot 298.18 in Master grade to come 6th. I then shot in the final and came out in third place with 198.12.

C grade interclub

The C grade interclub team shot their second match tonight. Unfortunately Melrose, who they were competing against, defaulted, giving our shooters the win automatically. Not to be deterred, we divided our 4 x team members and 2 x emergencies into two teams who shot against each other. Congrats to Brooklyn A (Jaz, Eli and Finn) for their win over Brooklyn B (Rob, Alex and Filly). Top shots were Eli with 95.4 and Filly with 95.2.

Target marking course

Stephen will be running a target marking course on behalf of the Wellington Association on Tuesday 15 July at 7pm at the Royal Tiger range. This is the one way you can become certified to mark targets, and we recommend it to anyone who wants to learn how to mark targets (parents included). Following the course you'll be required to mark a certain number of 10 and 20 shot matches under supervision, and once you've done that you'll be qualified. Let us know if you are keen and we will make sure you get some experience in the marking room before going to the course.

Note: there is a $20 charge for non-WSRA members (ie non-shooters). If any parents want to go on the course Brooklyn will pay your fee.

BSA match

Nominations are now open for the BSA match. This is an open 12-person Wellington Provincial team which competes against other provinces across the British Empire.
